Robert Elder, DC, FPSC

Dr. Robert Elder has created a welcoming, patient-centered environment at Metro Chiropractic, grounded in thorough evaluations, precise diagnostics, and clear, collaborative communication. A native of St. Louis, Dr. Elder earned his Bachelor’s degree in Biology with an emphasis in Chemistry from the University of Missouri–Columbia in 1986, where he was deeply involved in clinical research within the Department of Nephrology. He later worked in genetic research at Washington University in St. Louis at Barnes Hospital, contributing to advanced sequencing research before ultimately answering a personal calling to chiropractic care. After a severe shoulder injury redirected his own healthcare journey, he enrolled at Logan College of Chiropractic (now Logan University), graduating in 1990 and entering private practice immediately thereafter.

With more than three decades of clinical experience, Dr. Elder continues to pursue advanced post-graduate education in spinal biomechanics, trauma documentation, MRI spine interpretation, neurodiagnostics, and crash dynamics. He holds a Distinguished Fellow certification in Chiropractic BioPhysics and has completed extensive training through the Academy of Chiropractic Post-Doctoral Division, focusing on clinically correlating imaging, history, biomechanics, and causality—particularly in complex and trauma-related cases. His background in competitive bodybuilding, including earning the title of Mr. St. Louis (Middleweight Class), further informs his understanding of performance, structural balance, and functional optimization.

As Clinical Director of Metro Chiropractic Centre since 1991, Dr. Elder integrates structural correction, functional medicine, and advanced therapeutic technologies to deliver comprehensive care. The practice features state-of-the-art modalities including Pulsed Electromagnetic Therapy (PEMF), LightForce therapy, and Spinal Disc Decompression, allowing for individualized treatment plans tailored to both acute injuries and long-term wellness goals. Conveniently located at 2108 Schuetz Road in Maryland Heights, the clinic offers easy access, ample free parking, and a professional environment where patients are empowered to take an active role in their recovery. Dr. Elder remains committed to what he describes as his “joyful obligation” to continually expand his knowledge—ensuring that every patient receives thoughtful, evidence-informed care designed not only to relieve pain, but to restore optimal health and lifelong function.
